How to Enable SMTP Authentication for iPhone/iPad

The iPhone and iPad supports IMAP. IMAP will allow you to view emails and folders from multiple devices and keep all of them in sync.

Information You Will Need

  • Email Username
  • Email Password
  • Incoming (IMAP) Email Server Address
  • Outgoing (SMTP) Server Address
  • Outgoing (SMTP) Port Number
  • (contact support if you do not have this information)

Follow these steps to create a new IMAP connection to your CIIC email account on an Apple iOS device like the iPad or iPhone:

  1. Tap on Settings from your main screen
  2. Tap Accounts & Passwords button
  3. Tap on YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT
  4. Tap on YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT again.
  5. Scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server & Select “SMTP”
  6. Select the mail server listed under the “Primary Server”
  7. Change Authentication to “Password”
  8. Hostname: Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com or supplied server address
  9. Set the server port to “587”
  10. Username: Supplied Username (this is NOT your email address)
  11. Password: is the same password used to access webmail
  12. Click DONE on your top right hand corner.  # PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU DO  NOT SKIP TO THE HOME SCREEN AFTER CLICKING DONE, THE NEXT 2 STEPS WILL HARD SAVE THESE SETTINGS #
  13. Click ACCOUNT on your top left hand corner.
  14. Click DONE on your top right hand corner.
